Charles is a Colorado-based technology entrepreneur and mathematician. He attended Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado Boulder to study analytic number theory before moving into cryptography through industry exposure.
He has founded three cryptocurrency-related start-ups: Invictus Innovations, Ethereum, and IOHK, and he has held posts in both the public and private sectors. He was the founding chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation’s education committee and established the Cryptocurrency Research Group in 2013.
His current focus is on cryptocurrency education, encouraging decentralization, and introducing cryptographic tools to the mainstream. This includes leading the research, design, and development of Cardano, a third-generation cryptocurrency that launched in 2017.

Bruce Fenton, CEO of Chainstone Labs, explores the topic of what makes an ideal jurisdiction for the crypto space. Yoav Dror, CEO and co-founder of PumaPay, explains how merchants and enterprises can use a blockchain based payment solution that allows for flexible billing models on the ethereum network. PumaPay has created a payment mechanism that uses a “pull payment” protocol, which inverses the mechanics of transactions. This allows merchants to “pull” funds directly from customers’ wallets, based on pre-approved terms. This also allows for various payment scenarios, including subscriptions, top-ups and dynamic price billing models. In addition to explaining the pull payment protocol, Dror explains why specific tokens for merchants and industries will not work and comments on the future of cryptocurrency.
