In this week’s episode of the Animal Crossing, err, I mean Nintendo Village

Podcast, we’re discussing the arrival of Leif and Redd in New Horizons, and

giving our thoughts on what constitutes a great 3D platformer. The genre is

undergoing a bit of a renaissance with the likes of Yooka-Laylee, Super

Mario Odyssey, A Hat In Time and others arriving recently, so we thought

we’d take the time to nail down what makes a great one.

Nintendo have dropped two major update announcements this week, with a massive expansion of content coming to both Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Maker 2. Phil and Gary discuss both, and take a look back at what Super Mario Maker 2 did better than it’s predecessor and why it seemingly didn’t foster a bigger community in spite of its successes.

We’ve just had an update to the Switch’s firmware and an eagle-eyed dataminer has spotted a reference to a new hardware model within the code. Could the long-rumoured Switch Pro really be in the offing? We discuss that and a few other news stories, as well as our inability to play anything other than Animal Crossing: New Horizons on this latest episode. Enjoy!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons may be an incredible game, but no game is

perfect. So this week, Phil and Gary discuss a few of the minor niggles

they have, and their hopes for future updates from Nintendo. Plus we’ve got

the usual headline coverage, and some impressions of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger

The Nintendo Direct drought finally came to an end with last week’s Mini presentation, so we dive into our highlights from that, as well as some impressions on the Bravely Default 2 demo.
