Michael Ostrolenk has been exploring the relationship between post-conventional living, transformational leadership, optimizing health, and regenerative paradigms his whole life. His interest in human growth and personal development began when he was 9 years old and worked with psychotherapist Pat Lawson learning biofeedback, meditation, and guided imagery. In the late 1990’s he received his master’s degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology, from John F. Kennedy University and he completed post-graduate training in somatic psychology from the California Institute for Integral Studies. Mr. Ostrolenk is a Master Coach and Head Instructor with SEALFIT Unbeatable Mind Academy. He worked closely with Mark Divine (Ret- U.S Navy SEAL) in creating the Unbeatable Mind Online Accelerated Learning program in 2010. Ostrolenk is the Director of Human Resilience at Apeiron Zoh where he works with medical and psychological staff in creating online and in-person programs seeking to transcend the limits of human performance and health.

Dr. Susan LaCombe is a closet-rebel psychologist working through her fears, trying to make an imprint on the world for something she believes is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.  She was once very troubled—her trauma history had caught up to her early two clinical depressions before age 30.  She turned to therapy for an answer. Turned out to be the wrong solution—well for about 14 times Until . . . . . . around her 4th decade on this planet she found the right kind of therapy . . . or was it the right type of therapist? Tricky question. The type of therapy her therapist used was a whole paradigm shift away from the others. It was a trauma-based somatic model. It not only made sense of her life, it suddenly became clear that the mental health field was approaching anxiety and depression with outdated methods. After a thousand clinical hours as a psychotherapist/psychologist and responding to hundreds of questions from people in therapy (on myShrink.com) and seeing needless suffering, she wonders if we’re going about it all wrong.   She believes that if we harness our energies to helping the unborn and later infant child, we’ll have far fewer issues with emotional dysregulation and with that, far lower rates of mental illness, anxiety, depression, and related issues of abandonment, transference, authority issues and the like. She asks if we did that, could we change the trajectory of our trauma pattern as nations. In this episode Dr. Susan talks about 2 types of talk therapy, why do we even therapy, managing emotions and dealing with trauma and its connection with the nervous system, and much more.

Scarlett Lewis is the mother of Jesse Lewis who was killed in his first-grade classroom during the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012, along with 19 classmates and 6 teachers and administrators in one of the worst school shootings in US history. She founded The Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation in honor of Jesse and to spread a message he left on their kitchen chalkboard shortly before he died, Nurturing Healing Love, the formula for choosing love, and to promote social and emotional education in schools as well as a consistent message of compassion in our communities. Dr. Ron Siegel is an Assistant Professor of Psychology, part-time, at Harvard Medical School, where he has taught for over 35 years. He is a long-time student of mindfulness meditation and serves on the Board of Directors and faculty of the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy and the faculties of the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion at the Cambridge Health Alliance and the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
