First time mama Jess shares her powerful story of leaving her career in Nursing, birthing her first son out of the system in Mexico , and her journey into Traditional Birth Companionship! This is such a refreshing and uplifting story of first time parents reclaiming their sovereignty and creating a powerful and abundant life.

Jess's Story:

My journey has been a long and adventurous one. I graduated the nursing program in 2020. I began noticing just how corrupt everything really was. I joined Canadian Frontline Nurses not long after I began working at the hospital. I found hope and my world opened to natural alternatives to health. We organized rallies, protests, created pamphlets of information to distribute to the public. I met so many beautiful souls. Meanwhile, I went from a "great nurse" to "bad nurse" the second my colleague's found out I wasn't vaccinated. I was threatened to have my nursing license taken away and face a suspension without pay if I didn't get vaccinated. I decided to go on sick leave. CFLN had zoom meetings every Monday nights and Billie Harrigan was the guest speaker. This woman gave me goosebumps. I wanted her to talk forever. She made me want to drop nursing and dive deep into the real world of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She opened my eyes to the lies and birthing business hospitals have created. I began her courses while on sick leave. Not too long after, I hopped on the biggest roller-coaster of my life, I quit my nursing career, sold our house and everything we owned, found out I was pregnant, got married, moved to Mexico less than 6 months later and had our baby there. We had a homebirth with an amazing supportive birth team!

Now, I'm a happy stay-at-home mom and wife. I am starting up my courses again to become a traditional birth companion. I wrote an ebook on my entire experience "Nurse to TBC: leaving the medical industry". I really want to empower women to take control of their pregnancy and birth. I can only hope that more women in our generation and the ones following take charge of their pregnancies and opt for homebirths.

Melissa got pregnant with her last baby and had a wild pregnancy and freebirth with her family. He was a meconium baby, nuchal hand, and still don't know why but his cord came out already white! She was thinking his hand was pinching the cord during birth descent! Turns out meconium, nuchal hand and white cord can all be a form of natural, normal birth ! First time mama, Bec, joins me to share her transformational journey from Maiden-to-Mother. Bec shares so much wisdom in this episode, the grief associated with moving from maiden to mother, Bec shares the realities of her back labour and her powerful home birth of her first daughter Addison. Last year at this time, ‘right timing’ prevailed and with the unwavering support and trust from her partner of 11 years, Sean, a profound journey of conscious conception, a wild pregnancy and out-of-system Homebirth, supported by Traditional Birth Companions, unfolded and they recently welcomed their beautiful daughter, Addison, earthside November 2023. 

This is a story of radical self-responsibility, spiritual growth and a whole lot of MAGIC.
