Welcome to the first season of the Non-GMO Project podcast, Leaders in Non-GMO. In this seven-part podcast series, we are getting an inside look into the minds of non-GMO giants and inviting them to share their stories and experiences. This week, we are eager to share a special episode featuring our Executive Director Megan Westgate interviewing Dana Perls, senior food and technology campaigner for Friends of the Earth. Megan and Dana discuss the emerging technologies of genetic engineering.
Generous support for this episode comes from Annie’s. For nearly 30 years, Annie’s has been making the foods you loved as a kid even better—now they’re organic and Non-GMO Project Verified. Which is better for families, farmers and the planet we all share. So as Annie’s expands into new parts of the store, they’re making the world a little better…and yummier.
Dana Perls is the senior food and technology campaigner with Friends of the Earth. Prior to joining Friends of the Earth, she was the Northern California community organizer with Pesticide Watch, where she ran regional campaigns in agricultural counties to ban cancer-causing, unregulated strawberry pesticides from the market, to label GMOs in California, and to help reform the corporate control of our food systems with non-toxic, localized, and regulated practices.
