It’s the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with the National League South and National League North clubs joining the competition and those who have got the competition to this stage are beginning to dream of some proper giantkillings.

We kick it all off with the man in the know, FA Cup statistician extraordinaire Phil Annets with his @FACupFactfile hat on joins Tim Fuell to give some insight into the 160 clubs in 80 ties this weekend.

Then we head down to the south west again. A bit further than last week’s show, this time the most westerly side in the top four steps of the National League system. A club on the rise not only on the field but also off it. Leading the way in building online followings and communities supporting a club that now boasts an international fan base for what is truly a village side, but a lovely village at that.

Jake Ash is the manager at Mousehole AFc and as it turns out he is as big a fan of this show as we are of his work and those around him at the club. Mousehole are unbeaten this season, joint top scorers in the competition and whilst they host higher level opposition in the FA Cup this weekend there’s little doubt there’s a respectful belief that their unbeaten record and FA Cup journey aren’t about to come to an end just yet.

Rounding it all up Matt Badcock Editor at Large at the Non League Paper with a few reception issues but hopefully not impacting too heavily on his insight into the big news across the pyramid this week and the issues to be covered in this week’s Non League Paper.

We go to the West Country this week and specifically two clubs in the Bristol suburbs.

The FA trophy begins this weekend with the First Qualifying Round with Step 4 clubs kicking the competition off. We link up again with Richard Luffman gaffer at Cribbs. Promotion last year to step 4 and now this year they’ve already dumped one step 3 side out of the FA Cup and travel to another next week, first up though, a club from their own division in the FA Trophy.

Also in the Bristol area but two levels below, the story of the week. In the middle of a heatwave they had the heartache of a match abandoned in the 83rd minute they were leading 5-2... abandoned due to flooding! Manager Liam Greening tells us about Shirehampton FCs woes.

Rounding it all up Jon Couch the Executive Editor at the Non League Paper with managerial changes, clubs facing demise and the inside track on clubs preparing for the FA Cup next week.

It’s a while since we did this but in an attempt to get a slightly different look at what Non League Finals Day means to those involved, this seemed too good an opportunity to turn down.

Two legends of their club, Ascot United. Doug Page a man who first turned up at the club with two young sons looking for a club to learn football at. He ended up doing his own coaching badges and never leaving, even helping re-establish the Ascot United mens side and appearing as a player before taking on a role on the committee and even a stint as Chairman and he’s on the board now. Doug even played under the managerial guidance of my other guest’s father Ray Saunders and has been known to still turnout for the Vets. That’s where Rob Saunders now represents the Yellamen but as a player he played a big part in their two previous FA Vase runs to the Quarter Finals and admits he’s a tad jealous of the lads who will represent Ascot United on Sunday at Wembley.

The season is pretty much done but there’s plenty going on behind the scenes both here, at Wembley and at football clubs up and down the country. It’s actually the busiest time of the year and we wanted to capture a slightly different angle on it all as we go into the final big games this weekend with Non League Finals day. However, to do so it looks like we might have a two part show this week with our ‘second set of guests available early Friday morning to hopefully allow a Friday PM release of their contribution.

That doesn’t mean your ears get time off for good behaviour though. We have plenty to entertain and inform, starting with insight into the FA Trophy final between FC Halifax Town and Gateshead. THe focus is more on the latter as we speak to former media man at the club, now local journalist who has been reporting on the Heed for over 5 decades. It’s great to chat to players, managers, chairmen and the like but with big games like these it’s the fans that have lived and breathed the club often for longer and who for whom Wembley appearances are a big thing. Jeff Bowron knows more about Gateshead FC than most for sure and it’s great to hear what Sunday’s final means for him.

Rounding up the week’s news including last week’s National League, National League South and National League North play off finals is Matt Badcock Editor at Large with the Non League Paper. THere’s also much debate around the league allocations out this week and a number of new managerial appointments too.

Three big games remain at the top of the non league league season. The finals for the National league, national League South and National league north play-offs, to see who takes those remaining promotion spots to climb further up the pyramid.

We speak this week with one manager who if he achieves promotion sees it as his biggest achievement in a short successful management career but also a fairly illustrious playing career too. Russ Penn made over 280 appearances as a player in the football league and almost the same again as a non league player and 8 England C caps and now has over 130 games a gaffer under his belt too so he’s seen a fair bit of football in his time but this weekend is a big one in the National North play-off. A trip to Brackley and some 90 minutes plus add-ons, and perhaps extra time and penalties stand between them and a place back in the top tier of non league football.

Luke Garrard is no stranger to leading underdogs to success to taking his side to Notts County this weekend isn't too big a worry for him, albeit he concedes they probably deserved promotion from their standard league season performance. We find out how he is preparing his team for this one.

It’s the end of the season for many but for our first guest it’s just the beginning. Not with us, we’ve followed his journey for years, A new project begins this week as Gary McCann takes on the role of manager of Billericay Town. Calm and collected as ever, the excitement though is clear as he opens up about the challenge ahead.

For our next guest, this weekend is the end of a very successful season whatever the result. We spoke with him earlier this season on an historic FA Cup run and now they are one win away from promotion to Step 4 and the first time back into the Northern Premier League since the 1960s. In the much talked about inter league Step 4 / Step 5 play offs they have possibly the longest journey, but that distance on the road is nothing compared to the journey the club has been on. Ashington Chairman Brian Shotton is keen that that journey has many more legs to come.
