- What drives Voters? Emotion or Policy? With Dr. Stephen Ducat S4E238 12.03.2025
Do you have a question or comment? Want to suggest a topic for our panel or be a guest on the Nova Society? Send us a message!
Dr. Stephen Ducat again joins our panel, and today's question is from Toby, who lives in Seneca Falls, New York, and asks, "What do you guys see as the impact of emotions on voting habits?" Do voters vote through their emotions? Trust? Identity? Or do policies really matter?

...21 min - Is Trumpism a product of Group Consensus or Groupthink? With Dr. Stephen Ducat S4E237 12.02.2025
Do you have a question or comment? Want to suggest a topic for our panel or be a guest on the Nova Society? Send us a message!
We have Dr. Stephen Ducat as a guest again, and our question today is from Roberta from Boulder, Colorado, who asks, "I remember reading about the dynamics of Group Consensus and groupthink way back when I was in college." It seems to me that there are elements of both in Trump supporters. They have a consensus to follow him, but their overall ideology appears to lean more toward groupthink. Which does the panel think is at play here?

...23 min - The Psychology of Democracy with Dr. Stephen Ducat S4E236 12.01.2025
Do you have a question or comment? Want to suggest a topic for our panel or be a guest on the Nova Society? Send us a message!
Today, we have our guest, Dr. Stephan Ducat. And our email is from Roger in Atlanta, Georgia, who asks: "I enjoyed the discussion about Trump’s mental status and that of his followers." But I don’t think the issues with the electorate were fully addressed. It is obvious to me that Trump is an authoritarian. Since the United States was founded as an alternative to authoritarianism, why do those who follow Trump and claim to love Democracy support someone who is obviously against everything Democracy stands for?

...28 min - ICE in North Carolina S4E235 11.28.2025
Do you have a question or comment? Want to suggest a topic for our panel or be a guest on the Nova Society? Send us a message!
Today, our question is from Tammy, who lives in Savanna, Georgia. I see that ICE raids are starting to go into full force in North Carolina—First Charlotte, now Raleigh. Better watch out, Dr. Mark, they are getting closer. But seriously, these actions are being condemned by almost everyone, even those with the most limited mental capacity. People are dying because of these raids. Protests are becoming increasingly confrontational. Does the panel see this ending anytime soon? I admit, I am beginning to worry. After Trump and ICE Barbie are gone, does the panel think these ICS agents should face some reckoning?

...23 min - The US boycotting the G20 meeting. Good idea or bad? S4E234 11.27.2025
Do you have a question or comment? Want to suggest a topic for our panel or be a guest on the Nova Society? Send us a message!
Today, our question is from Linda, who lives in Newport News, Virginia, and asks, "It’s being reported that the G20, of which the US is a part, is going to meet in Africa soon." Trump, in his usual buffoon way, says the UJS will not attend and even insulted the leader of the summit. He’s claimed that in South Africa, Whites are being killed and their homes and property stolen. He now claims that in Nigeria, Christians are being persecuted. These countries deny all of this. All these personal attacks and his refusal to attend the G20 are pushing Africa into the arms of China. What do you guys think? Is there a reasonable, coherent plan somewhere?

Do you have a question or comment? Want to suggest a topic for our panel or be a guest on the Nova Society? Send us a message!
Today, our question is from Sandra, who lives in Detroit, Michigan, and asks, I’m seeing a lot of reports of violence in the West Bank. Mosques being burnt down, beatings of Palestinians, and Olive Trees being killed to stop Palestinian harvesting. With the fighting in Gaza pretty much over, is this Netanyahu's new war to stay in power?

...16 min - Will the Epstein Files Amount to Anything? S4E231 11.24.2025
Do you have a question or comment? Want to suggest a topic for our panel or be a guest on the Nova Society? Send us a message!
Today, our question is from Stephen from Akron, Ohio, who asks: "So, I guess the Epstein Files are about to be released." I see only 1 Republican voted no. So, is this going to amount to anything? Or is this just another political bullshit game that will distract the nation for a couple of weeks and then never amount to anything real?

...18 min - The Government Reopens. Now What S4E229 11.20.2025
Do you have a question or comment? Want to suggest a topic for our panel or be a guest on the Nova Society? Send us a message!
Today we heard from Trudy, who lives in Boulder, CO. Trudy asks, It looks like the government will reopen shortly. This might mean that many issues the Republicans were able to sidestep may now come up for a vote. First, Johnson will need to swear in the new Representative from Arizona. Also, the release of the Epstein files might now become a reality. So, do you guys think that the reopening of the government might have a negative impact on Trump? Is the Democrats giving in to something he was counting on not happening?
