The NPCs - Video Game Commentary, Video Game News, And More!

Welcome to this week's topic episode! We discussed once before that some video games deserve to be movies, but until they get their chance on the silver screen our only option is to sit back and play through some of the most cinematic moments in Video Gaming. Think back to Mass Effect 3 when you were leaving Earth, watching the Reapers blast everything in sight. Or how about God of War 3, when you start the game climbing on the back of a Titan?!

Good artists copy, great artists steal... that's the mantra right? Well it can only go so far in video games, especially if there's a lawsuit floating around right? Well even that may not deter some companies from putting out a pretty obvious ripoff into the market!

Is it March, or is it May? The pandemic must be getting to Travis because he doesn't even know! 

In this week's Whadaya' Playin', Preston dives head first into Man Eater and lives out his life as a shark, Dan takes a step back in time to Final Fantasy 9's re-release on Xbox, Kyle isn't sure whether to Enter or Exit the Gungeon so he opted for both, and Travis shares his woes about his GPU bottleneck while playing Warzone.

You hear the announcement: a game you want is coming out. But the announcement gets better - they announce a collectors edition of the game that includes things you'd be proud to display on your shelf, read through, or... go into space for?

After a small break, we've got some games to talk about! Preston regales the other NPCs with tales of Streets of Rage 4, Dan breaks down the work of his 5-star Animal Crossing New Horizons island (we had a tour pre-recording, and it is awesome!), Kyle fills us in on the new experiences in Warzone, and Travis does his best to convince Preston to play Minecraft (hint: Preston hates Minecraft, but he'll come around eventually).

Every video game strives to be the next big thing right? Introducing some new mechanic, quality upgrade, choice/progression system, you name it - it's all been done. But... what games have done it well?
