Bill Withers is a classic soul singer from the 70's and early 80's who brought us classic songs that are still known and sung by many generations today. From "Lean on Me" to "Just the Two of Us", Bill Withers has left his mark on the fickle music industry. He also has credits as a producer with the legendary group Gladys Knight and the Pips. With this people the start of the Wednesday Rewind, we think it's going to be a "Lovely Day."

He has received numerous awards including the Grammy Living Legend Award, NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award, Honorary Doctorate (Howard University), Kennedy Center Honors and the National Medal of Arts Award from the President of the United States. He has also been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.

For almost a year, we have teamed up with the Chancellor of Soul Mike Boone to bring you a history of soul music. Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Dionne Warwick, Tammi Terrell. We've had an amazing time bridging the gap between classic soul and neo-soul. And now...a small group from Gary, Indiana that would change the way we looked at music ever again.
