Her Genius: Beyond Dieting

The Number 1 Tool for Weightloss Is Your Thoughts

Listen Later

In this episode of Beyond Dieting, we talk about …THE number 1 tool for weight loss, which is “Your Thoughts” - That’s right, what prevents weight loss is often the way you are thinking

There are plenty of studies that actually show that your negative thoughts about your weight and your body and yourself directly cause your weight gain (See below for links to study)

Some Coaching 101 - Your thoughts create your feelings, moods, actions and ultimately outcomes - which means the life you are living right now

In our program we take all of this excellent work and apply it to the life of someone battling with themselves over their weight - perhaps caught in a decades-long yo-yo diet cycle of gaining-losing, gaining-losing and never feeling satisfied or like they are where they want to be

Without understanding your thoughts and how they impact your world - this state of satisfied contentment will be hard to obtain - In fact, staying in your current thoughts will most likely keep you right where you are - which is stuck in a cycle of “trying to lose weight” or “trying to get fit”

This might show up in your life like:

You get up in the morning and see a number on your bathroom scale. In this instance, you don’t like the number you see. You might start thinking, “I’m lazy,” “ I never seem to win,” “I can’t stick to anything.

However, when you learn to identify the toxic thoughts that cause suffering, you can do the work to change those thoughts into thoughts that do not create suffering.  This is really good news.  You can learn how to be in charge of the outcomes in your life.

And since your thoughts ultimately create the life you’re living, learning to change your thoughts will ultimately change your life.

Our upcoming group coaching program called “Beyond Dieting” is where you get to learn this vital process for detoxifying your relationship to weight loss, food and your body.

Our song this week is Everyday is a Winding Road by Sheryl Crow

ABOUT US

We’re two friends on a mission to disrupt the insanity of diet culture and replace it with something positive, life-affirming and effective.

We’re talking to you if you - like us - have felt like

  • a poster child for “diet failure" -
  • or that diets work for other people just not you -
  • or like you just can’t stick to anything -
  • Or this would work if only you were disciplined enough! - blah, blah, blah -
  • If that’s you, then we are here to tell you that the problem is not YOU. The problem is dieting.

As life coaches, empty-nesters, busy entrepreneurs and menopausal women, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to health and wellness, but we do know what has worked for us and other women in our programs.

What’s abundantly clear to us is that there is no silver bullet diet or exercise regimen. Period. Full stop. And we’ve tried a lot of them!

Stick with us as we explore a variety of doable and motivational ways you can free yourself from a lifetime of yoyo dieting.  It IS possible to live a healthier, saner, and more fulfilling life you enjoy.
