Today's podcasts wraps up this month's focus on the art of Communication, a subject that's integral to our ability to succeed in just about anything we do.
In this episode, I talk about the secret to great communications - not saying anything. More to the point, great communications is about listening - really listening - and then being thoughtful and sparing in what we actually do say. In other words, more isn't always better. Real understanding is always better.

In this episode, I talk about the importance of intent in our communications. All too often, we're not clear, conscious or thoughtful in what and how we're communicating. More to the point, we're lazy and this can only lead to problems, as I share via a personal experience that I share in this podcast.

Today's podcasts continues our exploration of the art of Communication, a subject that's integral to our ability to succeed in just about anything we do.
In this episode, I share the age old story of The Curate's Egg and what it tells us about being upfront in our communications. I also discuss how it's critical for us to be thoughtful in our communications not just with others, but with ourselves as well.

In this episode, I talk about the importance of language and how we need to be thoughtful about what we say and how we say it. Through this discussion, I explore how language really is, as the movie "Arrival" explores, the first weapon drawn in a conflict.

This episode closes out this month's focus on "Story" and its role in our lives. I talk about how we use stories to define who we are and what we do. And while stories have limitless potential, they can also constrain us.
So the discussion focuses on the stories we tell ourselves and how we can begin tell ourselves better ones to change who we are.

In this episode, I continue the exploration of the idea of Story in our lives, again diving into Donald Miller's phenomenal book, A Million Miles In A Thousand Years.
I pick up 3 passages from the book that speak to the idea of character, sacrifice and what stories we should aspire to leave behind when we're gone. These ideas resonated strongly with me and, I hope, they will with you, too.

In this episode, I continue this month's conversation on Story and it's role in our lives. I start with a story about my first business trip and what I learnt during a breakfast discussion then.
I also share my thoughts on one of the best books I've ever read: A Million Miles In A Thousand Years by Donald Miller. In the book, Miller talks about this idea of story and I pick up on two quotes or passages from the book that especially resonated with me and why. I hope you get as much from it as I did.

Welcome to the relaunch of the Omerisms podcast - back after a bit of a hiatus!
I've revamped the style of the podcast and will be speaking about key themes I've discussed over the last three and a half years on my blog. I'll cover older posts in audio form and also add additional commentary where appropriate.
You'll also find that these podcasts are shorter - microcasts, if you will. At less than 10 minutes (for the most part), they're bite sized and fit into your day much more readily. Of course, I'll still do interviews and longer form discussions every now and then.
Today's podcast kicks off a theme I'll be covering in detail this month: the idea of "story". We all have stories within us - our lives are all about creating, living and telling stories. Stories are how we will be remembered. So today, I talk about the idea of telling your story in the first place - that is, finding your voice and putting yourself out there.
I hope you enjoy the podcast!
This month's podcast focuses on the topic of high performers and interestingly, whether they ever have an expiry date. Is there ever a time to let them go? This topic was inspired by the debate that has raged on over the last few months around Arsenal Football Club, one of the top football (soccer) teams in England. Fans of the club, the media and (some suggest) the board, have all debated whether it was time for Arsene Wenger, the most successful manager in the club's history, to go. In this episode, I discuss the context of this conversation and suggest 6 questions that need to be asked when making this decision.
This month's podcast features my interview with Brian Slobodow, whose career has spanned management consulting, corporate America and Private Equity. We talk about his experiences and lessons learned in each of these unique industries as well as what advice he has to offer to those looking to play in any one (or more) of these sectors.
