We had the honour of connecting with doula, photographer, website designer, mother, partner, and business owner Amelia (@protivacreative). She came on to talk to us about her experience with pregnancy loss/miscarriage and how she coped with that mental & physically. This is part 1 of her story and she also goes into talking about growing up as a fundamental christian from Oregon to how that has developed who she is now that her and her husband have left the church. Part 2 will come out next week! 

Tahlia gave us the honour of interviewing her on her home birth that she had with her daughter near Byron Bay, Australia. She is a midwife on the Gold Coast and had a birthing center with her first born son. With her knowledge and understanding, she decided to do a home birth with a water tub with the birth of her second child. We had the opportunity to learn about the Australian public healthcare system and what is accessible to women & birthers in terms of Midwifery Continuity Of Care Program. 

I had the amazing opportunity of having Victoria Gloria from CT on with us to talk about her story. We have a fun discussion talking about how her and her husband met (their love story), going to college and discovering she wanted to become a photographer! Victoria is a motherhood photographer and pregnancy photographer who is also expecting a little boy at the end of this month! She talks about her first and second trimester, going through slight morning sickness but feeling amazing now. She will be coming on again in a few months to talk about her birth story with her midwife at the local birth center!

She talks about postpartum depression, developing cholestasis, and her experience of dealing with OBGYNs and midwives at a birth center for her first 2 pregnancies. Allison also discusses her experience of how she got into this work after giving birth in Scotland and dealing with obstetric violence there. She wants other doulas to know that they do need to work as advocates for their clients and pregnant people to ensure that we can get better birthing outcomes. Thank you for your work Allison. 

Ellen (@ellen_wags) from Alabama is on with us talking about her experience with postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression, and postpartum rage. She talks about her experience of both postnatal experiences with her two daughters and how she finally found the path of getting help from her doctor. 

We have an exciting episode with one of our doulas Talia out of Washington (@indigorisingbirthwork) talking to us about her work as a birth & postpartum doula. She also discusses with us her experience of motherhood and postpartum especially her experience with symptoms of postpartum depression and one of the symptoms, rage. Parenting during COVID is an additional topic that we cover.

Today, we have on the amazing mama from Alaska, Annie (Instagram: @mrs.anniewhite) talking to us about her birthing center births! She talks about finding a birthing center in Nashville, TN and accidentally giving birth to her first child at a service station. Annie then discusses her quick labor and how she and her husband managed to make it to the birth center with the midwives for his birth. Lastly, Annie does talk about how she recognised her postnatal depression and what she did to get support. 

This week we have one of our massage therapists & doulas, Julieanne Weatherhogge (@vital_flow)! She lives in Seattle with her son and is aimed at providing pregnant & postpartum people with the best care through message therapy but also through postpartum planning. Julieanne talks about the importance of knowing your birth story, how she can best support her clients with meal preparation, listening, talking about mental health, and so much more.
