Resident Evil (2026) is a little bit of a miracle. It's a video game movie. It doesn't follow a specific plotline or character from the long-running video game series. And it's completely disconnected from the formerly profitable franchise of schlocky b-movies. Yet, it's a stellar example of how movies can interpret the spirit and mechanics of a game without being beholden to telling a story fans have already played through.

Fun, scary, funny --- it's kinda got it all and we talk all about why it succeeds (and it's small failures) as two fans of the survival horror franchise.

Game developer legend, Hideo Kojima, and his Kojima Productions have been tight with Sony since the original PlayStation debuted its legendary first console way back in the 90s. But that's all changed now. PlayStation canceled Kojima Productions' spiritual successor to his lauded Metal Gear Solid series, and Hideo and Co. took their talents to the competition: Xbox.

Our hometown got a free asshole convention when fans of white supremacist fighter, Gypsycrusader, came to Orlando's Kia Center to cheer on their guy. He ended up winning that match, and Orlando lost big by hosting the spectacle for the world to see. The story went viral, with fans flashing a Nazi flag and throwing up Roman salutes, and the Kia Center responded with a strongly worded shrug. Disappointing to say the least. We talk about hypocrisy, politics, and the how the home of the Magic should do better vetting before we have another rally roll into town and make us a national punchline again.

OK, off the soap box, we also get into another sports-related story: advertising in college football. Now that players can have logos plastered directly on their jerseys, what's next for the money making machine? Is it changing the game? Do we care about these schools and kids getting the bag?

Finally, we talk about music production royalty with The Alchemist's online pushback on the internet's busiest music nerd, Anthony Fantano's, recent review of the Alchemist/Erika Badu record. Should artists defend their art against critics or is it better to just let the work speak for itself?
