1: It was such a strong start and then we conceded because we insisted on playing out the back and out of EVERY pressure. Sometimes it’s better to just let a ball go out, or just clear your lines and boot it. But that’s the risks we often take and that’s the price we often pay.
2: It’s real hard to play a team that’s dangerous from 0-35 yards. I’m not even mad at the second goal. It’s world class and very little can be done about it.
3: In truth, going forward, it wasn’t terrible. There were some really positive attacking sequences. Some really good half chances and a couple of chances that should’ve been goals. Our XG backs that up. Columbus was the epitome of clinical and we were not.
4: When your best player is not as his
best, your team probably won’t be either. Thiago had a bad night. It
wasn’t that he was just absent from the game, it’s that he was actually bad. Poor passes. Poor service. Virtually no impact. We needed more. Much more.
5: We played a better version of
ourselves. Columbus should win MLS Cup. They’re the most complete team in the league right now. They are what we are striving to be. We are on our way, and there are real reasons to be optimistic about next season and beyond
