Scripture teaches that “the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” Our faith can be rooted only in the goodness of God, and we love others in recognition of the debt we owe because God first loved us. Love’s greatest enemies are hatred, fear, and pride. Some see a dichotomy between grace and works, or achievement. But true grace—a gift—works through love.
