We can get offended by what others say and do–but have you ever been offended because someone DIDN'T do something you felt like they should? Or they didn't speak up and say something you wanted them to say? In Matthew 11 we read about John the Baptist who prepared the way for Jesus, and when you look closely to his story you realize that he likely could have been offended at some of the things Jesus didn't say and didn't do towards John. The baptism of Jesus in the Jordan river was such a powerful event–one of the few times in scripture that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit all show up together. That alone is amazing! Why? John the Baptist prepared a space that brought honesty, humility, openness and transparency. And offense counteracts all of those things. When God moves, Satan will use the spirit of offense to remove the honesty, humility, openness and transparency that God desires you to live in.
