The Opening Bell

On the July 18, 2016 episode of The Opening Bell, Steve had the weekly Allstate CEO Spotlight featuring FIGO Pet Insurance CEO, Rusty Sproat who talked about how the pet insurance field is a lucrative and vital point to having a secure backup plan for our pets. Steve also chatted with, TOB regular, Dale Buss, to talk about the big news of the little treat that’s making a comeback, Hostess.  

Unfortunate news from France is what we woke up to on July 15, 2016. Steve touched on the most up to date details of the news, but of course also looked to see how this effects that business world as well. Paul Nolte joined Steve in studio to talk about the world of business and finance and Rick Seaney talked about traveling and how to do it safely and efficiently.  

On the July 14, 2016 episode of The Opening Bell, TOB regular, Scott Kitun addressed the gender gap in tech with Steve after news that Technori is on it’s way to achieving the goal of showcasing 50% of it’s companies that are female founded. Another Scott, Scott Cohn of CNBC, joined Steve to touch on a recent report about the best and worst states for business as well.  

On the July 12, 2016 episode of The Opening Bell, Steve talked with Justine Jentes (Community Engagement Manager for Excelon) about an interesting summer school that is in full swing conducted by ComEd…? On the July 11, 2016 episode of The Opening Bell, Steve featured another CEO for the Allstate CEO Spotlight, Mark Hoppe of MB Financial Bank. The two talked about what it is like running one of the biggest banks in the Midwest. Ben Fischer also touched base with Steve as we approach one month before the 2016 Rio Olympics begin.  

After waking up to tragic news about the targeting of police officers in Dallas, Steve addressed President Obama’s words from Poland on the shooting that is still being investigated. Steve and Paul Nolte, Portfolio Manager at Kingsview Asset engagement then turned their attention to the jobs report the was released today. Steve was also joined by UIC’s Dr. Robert Winn to talk about the University of Illinois’s “Cancer Moonshot Summit” and talk about the hopeful direction cancer research is going. […]

On this installment of The Allstate CEO Spotlight, we meet veterinarian Alexis Newman  of Partner and Paws Veterinary Services who has created a 501c3 Not-for-Profit Charity called MARK-9 (Medical Assistance For Retired K-9s). Right back from the holiday weekend, Steve kicked off the July 5, 2016 episode of The Opening Bell by featuring Alexis Newman as the CEO Spotlight. Alexis and Steve talked about the company called MARK-9, that is dedicated to retiring dogs after service careers. Steve also provided an update on Zika virus about chatting with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine professor, Dr. Lee Jampol about the specifics of the virus.  

With the first day of July falling on a Friday, Steve and Paul Nolte chat finance and portfolios after the historic Brexit decision having significant effects on global markets. The general 4% portfolio drop is most likely back where it should be in your portfolio, but the overall perspective Paul is standing on is to “sit on your hands”.
