1
Go, my soul, to Calvary,
Stand before the cross in wonder;
See how Jesus died for thee,
Mark it well, and humbly ponder;
Should thy sins not grieve thee now
Cold and hard as stone art thou.
2
O that man of sorrows see,
Hanging there twixt earth and heaven,
Nailed to that accurs6d tree,
Heart and soul by torments riven.
Bleeding, tortured, crucified,
See thy Lord: for thee He died.
3
Holy, spotless Lamb of God,
‘Twas my sin and my transgression
Brought Thee here to shed Thy blood,
And to bear this cruel passion.
To redeem my bitter loss
Thou must die upon the cross.
4
Lamb of God, look down, behold,
For Thy love I here adore Thee;
In Thy wounds my heart enfold,
As in tears I stand before Thee.
As I watch Thy pains and woes
Full of grief, my heart o’erflows.
5
Never, nevermore can I
Recompense what Thou didst suffer;
Though I serve Thee till I die,
Though a thousand worlds I offer,
Naught that I can do or say
Can Thy least of pains repay.
6
One thing only can I do:
All my love, Lord, here I tender;
At Thy cross, my faith to show,
Heart and life to Thee surrender.
Take and make this heart of mine
Always, only, wholly Thine.
