1
Beside Thy manger here I stand,
Lord Jesus, life from heaven;
With grateful heart and willing hand
I give what Thou hast given.
O take my spirit and my soul,
My heart, my mind, O take it all;
Be pleased, Lord, to receive it.
2
I lay in death’s dark, gloomy night,
Thou camest, Lord, to save me;
Thou art the sun, whose heavenly light
Life and salvation gave me.
O sun, who kindled faith to shine
Within this darkened heart of mine,
How radiant is Thy glory!
3
With joy I gaze upon Thy face
To see Thee in Thy splendour;
’Tis greater than my soul can praise
And song can fitly render.
O that my mind might truly be
As boundless as infinity,
That it might comprehend Thee.
4
One thing, O Lord, I humbly pray,
Deny me not this favour,
That in my heart Thou day by day
Wouldst dwell as mine for ever.
O let me then Thy manger be;
Come, Saviour, come, abide with me,
Give me Thy choicest blessings.
BLESS OUR GOING OUT, O LORD 509
Bless our going out, O Lord,
Bless our entrance in like measures;
Daily bread to us afford;
Bless us in our toil and leisure.
Be in death Thy blessing given,
Make us all the heirs of heaven.
