1
Awake, my heart, thy praises sing
To Christ, thy risen Lord and King!
Stone, seal, and watch were all in vain,
Christ broke the bonds of death in twain.
So lift thy voice in triumph high,
Thy Saviour lives, thou shalt not die.
Thy praises ever sing
To Christ, thy risen King.
2
Awake, my heart, awake, rejoice,
And sing to Him with gladsome voice.
Who rose triumphant from the dead,
And all our foes has captive led.
Resplendent He in glory lives
And peace to all His people gives.
Thy praises ever sing
To Christ, thy risen King.
3
Awake, my heart, away with gloom;
Thy sins are buried in the tomb.
Thy Saviour as thy surety died,
And thou through Him art justified.
Exult, and dry away all tears,
And banish unbelieving fears,
Thy praises ever sing
To Christ, thy risen King.
4
Awake, my heart, no longer fear;
In death’s dark hour thy King is near,
E’en though His saints on earth must die,
He leads to mansions in the sky.
To Him thy lifeless body trust,
For He will raise thy slumbering dust.
Thy praises ever sing
To Christ, thy risen King.
5
Awake, my heart, His triumph tell,
Who burst the bonds of death and hell.
Doubt not His mighty power to save,
Look, and behold His empty grave.
With joy His mighty deeds acclaim,
And spread abroad the Victor’s name.
Thy praises ever sing
To Christ, thy risen King.
