Every superhero has an origin story.

When you look at Iron Man (you can substitute your favorite superhero), what you see when he is fighting Thanos in Avengers: Endgame is not his whole story. He started as a very different person - a self-indulgent billionaire playboy - and had a journey of change and growth to become the hero we love.
