After the victory of the Red Armies in the Russian Civil War, elements of the anti-communist movement settled throughout Europe and America. Many sought to organize and fight back as much as possible, and many organizations were founded, both religious and secular, to both educate westerners about the USSR and overthrow the government. In response, the Soviet secret police launched Operation Trust, where fake monarchist groups were founded so as to eliminate these right wing emigres. Unfortunately, it was quite successful.
