It was baby’s first podcast. With the welcoming of their new baby, Angela Lee and Wes O’Rourke of the San Luis Valley Climber’s Alliance are just getting back into the swing of reality. It was a family affair at the south side studio of Alamosa Citizen. When you tune into the latest episode of the Outdoor Citizen you might hear the coo or sneeze of little Skyeler who was rocked in his stroller during the recording of this episode.

Former Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge manager Suzanne Beauchaine joins us on the latest episode of the Outdoor Citizen podcast. She tells us about some of her most notable accomplishments during her time on the Valley’s refuges and what she’s been up to since retiring from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

We’re joined by Liz Breckbill and Brian Puccerella to talk about bikes, bike survey data, and Alamosa’s commuting future. Liz has recently taken over at Alamosa Bicycle Coalition as the newest executive director.

We’re joined again by Esteban Salazar from SLVGO! Esteban oversees the Embajadores, a small team that works primarily with the Hispanic community of the San Luis Valley to increase and improve access to outdoor recreation.

A recent transplant to the Valley, Muñoz has had a warm, high-elevation welcome to Colorado. As a member of the San Luis Valley Great Outdoor’s Great Outdoor Action Team, or GOATs, his office is often above treeline. As crew lead, he finds himself in a regular office more often than he’d like.

Brian Puccerella is back in the studio on Alamosa’s south side to talk about the newly minted gear library. The gear library is just like it sounds: a library with equipment that anyone can rent to experience the outdoors.

Marty Jones talks fishing with Kevin Terry, the southwest program director for Trout Unlimited. Kevin has been working on the Rio Grande Cutthroat trout recovery for nearly 20 years. We are also joined by Habitat For Humanity’s Audrey Liu. Audrey and Marty talk about the upcoming Bike2Build happening later in June.

As we usher in the summer, we’re joined by Jami Larsen, Matt Nolting, and Adam Moore of the SLV Wildfire Council to talk about how to prepare ourselves for wildfires and where risks exist for wildfires in the Valley.

In our latest two-part interview we talk with Doug Camp and Kevin Milder from San Luis Valley Trout Unlimited. They have a summer of community programs to get people more comfortable with fishing. We also talk with ASU’s Adventure Program Coordinator Wil Rickards about the upcoming Outdoor Family Festival. This festival will be at Cole Park following the Rio Trio race.
