They find an empty property near the major's. It's a perfect base for Winnie's darker, less official plans. But it turns out the villa isn't deserted.
The owners have invited a young British couple to housesit while they are away. Jonno and Posie, a new couple, think they are embarking on a romantic, carefree break in the sun. But when the Secret Service team arrives in paradise, everything changes.

Another Seymour classic
If you like your thriller novels and heroes bright, shiny, perfect (and unbelievable), Gerald Seymour isn't for you. Gerald Seymour is arguably the greatest living thriller writer due to years as an internationally-renowned journalist and newscaster, plus his detailed research and knowledge of the seamier side of life.
The signature of all his books are the utterly believable scenarios with flawed characters and plans which begin to unravel, just as they do in real life. And it's by no means assured that his main characters will necessarily live to the end of the book.
The plot of the Outsiders ), with members of a UK intelligence service putting together a barely-sanctioned plan to avenge the murder of a colleague has all the hallmarks of a disaster waiting to happen - people with their own baggage and frailties, the speed of putting it together with limited time and the risk of side issues getting in the way. Set in Spain, where criminals from many countries reside without too much interference from the authorities, it will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page.
The Outsiders is not my favourite Seymour novel but nonetheless, one which is still a great read and streets ahead of most of his contemporaries. Downloadable in Kindle/iPad format as well as conventional print.
Brilliant Book - Strong characters, robust plot - Enjoy
Gerald Seymour's writing has been compared to icons like Le Carré. This book really underlines the truth in that comparison. Its a great story and extremely well written. You can get a fully description of the storyline from the other reviews. But in short the story relates the clash of values between normal decency and the absurd evil of the Russian mafia. And how to the authorities of a modern European democratic nation try to balance that dichotomy. So there are three very different sets of values operating through a space of time in a very localised stage of events.
I enjoyed the book thoroughly. Like Le Carré, you get the impression that Seymour enjoys the creative process of writing and weaving a complexity of narrative, character stature and dialogues which is continuously gripping.
Buy the book - you won't regret it
Feels like so many other Gerald Seymour stories
So many themes in the Outsiders seemed familiar from Gerald Seymour's previous books and overall it was a disappointing book that I struggled to finish. The development of the story is very slow and ultimately the characters (even the heroes) are quite depressing misfits who (as ever in Seymour's stories) try to do the right thing in the face of evil.
