Have you ever hung out with the "wrong" crowd? In the moment maybe it felt cool. Perhaps, there is something great about the perceived loyalty, but ultimately, you know they like you as long as you are participating in the same behavior.  Our culture has named these kinds of friends as "fr-enemies". The enemy has been doing the same thing to us--hiding our enemies behind something that seems friendly or familiar. Eventually, this sinful posture of our heart will result in unholy partnership. But Praise God! Holy partnership will restore humble posture. This week, we'll move into supernatural peacemaking by removing the strongholds of the "fr-enemies" we've made and restoring Shalom through the powerful name of Jesus Christ. 

“All people will know you are my disciples by the way you love one another.” — Jesus. Any person with whom you share close physical or emotional space over time is a relationship where there will be conflict. And that isn’t a bad thing. Iron sharpens iron through friction and God desires for us to walk in courageous humility through the trials of walking in deep relationship — especially when our boundaries get crossed and our hearts get hurt. Peace is not just my inheritance. Peace is my residence. As natives of the Kingdom of Peace, we are called Peacemakers. As peacemakers, we can not be freaked out or shocked by conflict. Jesus warned us about conflict while on this earth.

John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Jesus tells us we will have trouble, conflict, trial, sorrow, disagreements, and fights in this world. Then he says, take heart, be of good cheer, rejoice!  Why? Because he has overcome it already. That doesn’t give us cause to ignore conflict or to prove how right we are because we are believers. This would be to take his grace for granted, when we are meant to use it to offer grace to someone else. Conflict is an opportunity to make more peace.
