  • Jamie Fine

Jamie Fine's (@jamiefinemusic) music might be the only thing that's as lively as her personality. A proud open book, the Ottawa-born singer, songwriter, and artist is smart, talented, hilarious, and most of all honest. She's the kind of dynamic presence who inspires the rest of us to be a little bit louder, a tad more fearless, and just better all around. As a kid, Jamie gravitated towards music. It provided solace from bullying and moments when her family just didn't understand. In addition to listening to Black Eyed Peas, and Nickelback, she loved hip-hop, spinning old school J. Cole on repeat in between performing at multicultural shows in high school. She opted to attend culinary school instead of university and launched her own catering business upon graduating. Following a creative awakening, she chose to quit the business and pursue music full-time in 2017. She reached platinum heights in the duo Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine, scoring a series of smashes in Canada. 2020 saw her step out solo and craft a signature style of her own. Now, she properly introduces herself on a series of singles and her forthcoming debut EP for Universal Music Canada, beginning with "Confessions."

  • Preston Pablo

Preston Pablo channels a fresh perspective on R&B and pop through live instrumentation and eloquent songwriting. The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer made his solo debut in high school with the single “OMO.” Right out of the gate, it eclipsed 648K Spotify streams. He continued to gain traction with a series of releases. Tapped for the compilation Bangers Only, Vol. 1, he linked up with fawlin and Chill Only for “Circles” [3.3 million Spotify streams] and SauceOnly and Zeegs for “When We Were Kids,” which racked up over 6 million Spotify streams. His single “One Sided” amassed 1.4 million Spotify streams as he joined forces with pablø for “She Tried It,” “Control,” and “Ideas.” On the heels of “Chargie,” Banger of the Day predicted, “we are expecting Preston to have another big year.” Along the way, Preston signed to Universal Music Canada as he honed what he describes as a “modern vintage” style. After racking up nearly 20 million streams independently, he draws a big sound out of small town roots on singles such as “Don’t Break (My Soul)”, “Flowers Need Rain” and more to come.

  • Peter Takis

Peter Takis is back for his second episode with the Pal's.

If you love unlikely collaborations and storytelling, Takis (real name Peter Takis - @petertakis) should hold a top spot on your artist shortlist. The Canadian creator loves bringing together artists who differ stylistically to produce relatable, emotion-driven music as he did with ‘Wait For Me’, his debut, an all-Canadian match-up with Goody Grace and Tory Lanez.

Takis’ relatable backstory, charged with conflicting feelings surrounding his hometown, threads through every aspect of his upcoming ‘Welcome Home’ project, a lodestar for aspiring creators dealing with similar, oftentimes discouraging conditions.

“The day I started making music, I had a confusing love-hate relationship with my hometown that I couldn’t seem to shake. It wasn’t just the powerful nostalgia of past relationships or the magnetic pull to never leave and stay in comfort, but also my urge to explore, my ambition to make a name for myself and my obsession to make my hometown proud."

Putting the inner perfectionist and storyteller in full view, Takis’ ‘Welcome Home’ project is more than just a collection of lyrically inspired, well-thought-out records. It’s a place of acceptance.

“This story seemed like it was mine alone, but when I started working with other artists, I came to realize that they all had their own stories about where they grew up and that everybody wants to become their own person and explore. You can’t hide from where you came from no matter how hard you try. What started out as my story growing up in a small town and seeking acceptance, became all of our stories and the reflection of our earliest memories.”
