Acweorna! I don’t do many “Interview” shows because I never really know what to ask. Fortunately, the subject of this week’s show, that’ll be Duncan Reid from Duncan Reid and the Big Heads and formally of The Boys, thanks to his up and coming new and swansong album “And It’s Goodbye From Him” made things really easy. Obviously, the topic of discussion is the aforementioned album, that you can pre-order [Here] why he has decided to bow out and what we are likely to expect from his final gig at The Lexington on the 7th October. A handful of songs from said album are talked about and then aired but proceeding that are some songs that have a Duncan Reid connection, apart from The Damned.
01 The Damned – Is It A Dream? – Phantasmagoria – MCA
Acweorna! This episode was recorded whilst I was either suffering from hay fever or a cold that keeps returning every Friday! On this show I seem to meander to and from segmentations as “Covers Corner” is a two parter. With Live material bookending proceedings. Last week’s Hip Priests and Bitch Queens gig at The Pipeline is discussed……..
01 Hanoi Rocks – Back To Mystery City – All Those Wasted Years – Johanna
Acweorna! Tributes to musicians who we’ve recently lost start and finish this week’s show. In between you’ll find, as per usual, the finest in Punk, Junk & Glunk.
01 The Damned – Love Song (Utopia Session) – Unreleased
Acweorna! Once more another Paranoid Squirrel Rock Show has been and gone. However, those digital airwaves have been collected and placed right here for you to relive at your leisure.
01 Tigertailz – You Can’t Stop The Rock – Digital Release
Acweorna! The live edition of the Show has aired, which means it’s time of the Streaming and Downloading version to be wheeled out. Things almost get ugly at the beginning of the episode as Barton thought I was being disrespectful. New music comes courtesy of the Hard-Ons, The Hip Priests, Råttanson, Bithammer! The Reverberations and a brand spanking new live track from Janus Stark that also forms part of this week’s “Covers Corner”. Talking of segmentations “Compare & Contrast” returns thanks to an e-mail from the former Musical Mayor of Stockholm. Enjoy!
01 Toilet Böys – Party Starts Now – Toilet Boys – Outlaw Recordings
Acweorna! On this week’s episode I finish off playing my Record Shop (sic) Day purchases and a handful of tracks that were earmarked for last week but due to time constraints I couldn’t fit them all in finally get an airing. There’s a couple of demos, The Boys one features the rhythm section from the Bernie Torme band as in Phil Spalding and Mark Harrison on bass and drums respectively. Joe Maddox from the Continental Lovers actually starts the demo segmentation. Both Suzi Moon and Billy Hopeless’ duets get played, with The Bites and Hawkwind finishing this week’s show.
Acweorna! Brian Johnson of AC/DC once sang “Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution” which is a good job otherwise Sadiq Khan would be asking for us to pay to listen and let’s face it I’d be skint very, very quickly! Coming up on this week’s episode is a great swath of Record Shop (sic) Day purchases (all right three), covers, alternative versions and even a new release!
01 The Beatles – The One After The 909 (Glyn Johns mix) – Let It Be [Super Deluxe] – Apple Corps
Acweorna! More Punk, Junk & Glunk that you could shake your Money Maker at.
01 Warrior Soul – We Are The Government – Classics – Dream Catcher
Acweorna! This week’s show was collated and compiled in hast. Due care and attention were taken. However, as you can read currently there are no linkable show notes. Hopefully I’ll get around to it on the official Paranoid Squirrel Web-Site Sunday.
01 Motörhead – I’m So Bad (Baby I Don’t Care) – 1916 – WTG Records
Acweorna! This week’s episode was pre-recorded piecemeal due to work commitments that sadly prevented me attending this years, and apparently final, Vive Le Rock Awards. However, I did manage to get to see The Damned down in Southend on the 2nd date of their current UK tour. If they play within a drivable distance of you; Go! You will not be disappointed. I play a hand full of “Classics”, modern and past. New songs are plentiful and of course “Covers Corner” is featured. I’m pretty confident that no other Radio Show would play both Shakin Stevens and The Hip Priests on the same show, let alone right after each other.
01 Slade – Rock and Roll Preacher (Live) – Ruby Red (Double 7”) – RCA Records
