We don't often like taking our children to the shopping centre, garden centre or any crowded place for fear they may have a tantrum.

Hi lovely parents, 

In this episode, forgive me for the rough edged recording, I was sat in my car with the engine on and didn't realise the sound quality. However, I have been taught not to worry about this and just get it out there. 

So tadarrrr...here it is! 

I'm sharing this with you as a very important point about how children learn at this stage of their development, essentially through play. Of all the advice in this episode, the biggest point for me is that for children to learn our language, we must simply allow them time to be, time to listen, time to interact and time to develop these skills.  And the most important part is that children will learn best from you. You are their parent, first educator and superhero, you can teach them anything!

In this episode I talk about transition. 

There is a really important technique you can use to reduce the tantrums when you want to move your children from one activity to another. 

They're playing blissfully in their room and you know it's nearly bath time. You become anxious at the very thought that it is going to kick off again. Wouldn't it be easier to let them be and just have 5 more valuable minutes to enjoy the peace and quiet?! 

No....you know they have to go to bed. You've got to do this!

Instead of embracing the usual scenario of agonisingly moving your children on from an activity and doing something you want them to, try this simple way of giving them time and advance warning that something is going to change. 

Their brain needs to process the information before they are able to break from one activity to another, especially when it's not as half as much fun as what they are already doing!

Welcome to my Podcast. 

In this episode, I want you to think about you!

We can focus so much on our children that we forget about each other. 

This is a subject that gets widely overlooked yet is so incredibly important. 

Our children need to see affection, they need to learn how to interact and hold a relationship with others. And that starts with you. As their role models, they need to know their parents get on. 

Too many times, I have seen children grow up, go off to university, leave home and then....their parents split up. Very sad. 

You must look after each other. Everything revolves around your children all of the time and I am big believer that you must find time for yourself and each other. They need to see that. 

You teach children resilience and self confidence by spending time on your self. 

Have a listen and see what you think.

Welcome to my Podcast. 

Today I talk to you about the importance of setting routines. 

When you are calm and in control, your children will respond better to you and they will be calm and in control. 

I talk about the routines I had when my children were growing up. It came naturally to me to set myself a routine in the morning to get out of bed on the right side and your children leave the house with everything they need and most importantly, no screaming and shouting at each other to get out of the door. 

I set a routine for everything - I did not want to lose control and be the parent who was alsays stressed and shouting at her children. It worked for me and I hope you take something from this to start building your own routines. 

Routines change of course, life changes but when it does, be sure to set a new routine up. When you are in this mind set, it comes more naturally to follow this system. 

I have created a downloadable routine and planner for you to work out and stick on your fridge.
