Discipline and consequences are useless, if they are not structured properly.

Here I weigh in on my thoughts with discipline and consequences, and provide a few tips on how to still enforce discipline and consequences with minimal resistance from your child or student. Made with both parents and educators in mind!

A direct question from a listener: how will education actually bring about any sort of social change?

Well, you've got to start somewhere. Here's my initial thoughts on this.

Emotional states play a huge role in how, when, and how effectively we as humans learn - about everything from academia to the world around us. This is especially true when it comes to school-age children.

It is more often than not that a student will be hesitant or reluctant to become involved with extracurricular education. There's some valid reasons for that.

The good news is: once you know the reasons, you can counter with these points.

I chat about what a good education entails, and why it is (allegedly) important.

It's all fine and dandy to take things away from the curriculum, but when those things are reading and writing, it's be getting a little out of hand.

And so, the question arises, how low is too low? How long do we keep lowering the standards for our children? When is enough, enough?

Education or indoctrination - what's the difference and why does it matter?

In our schooling system, it's a mile-wide gap. Education is the attainment of knowledge - all forms, shapes, and sizes. Indoctrination is the selective teaching of specific and often edited knowledge, usually by selected individuals.

Why is that a problem? By the very definition.

Emotional regulation is not an easy task to teach anyone, let alone to children.

But it can be done! I weigh in on some key things that, in my opinion and experience, will help the process along, and make everyone's life a little easier.

It takes a village to raise a child.

There's a reason for that saying. And for the parents out there wondering where their village is...I've got you covered. It's uncomfortable, and messy, and it's going to make you grow, but I promise you that if you reach out to find it...you'll be so happy you did!

Why do we learn? What's the point? If we insist on learning for something, shouldn't it be learning for things we will actually use in the future?
