Jon Witmer is a father, husband, and proud resident of “downtown” Muskegon. He is also a football player and coach. Or futbol. Or soccer. The game played with a round ball and your feet. We talk youth football, coaching, parents, and declining participation. We also discuss living in downtown Muskegon and Jon’s crazy job in Scotland.

Mary gets some of her toughness from the fact that she is a Project Kid. In part 2 we talk about Ruddiman Terrace and what it was like growing up in The Project

We also discuss journalism and how that world has changed and how my mother ran interference for her in high school. My mother likes her best.

Mary Ullmer is a survivor. She survived me as a coach (no small feat), survived working while commuting to Central Michigan University (where she graduated cum laude), she survived jobs in newspapers in Michigan (2), Missouri, Florida and at the Chicago Tribune, she survived the transition to electronic media (with ESPN), but, most importantly, she survived cancer!
