Our series on Psychedelics and Spirituality continues with two of Priestess Allison’s teachers, Jody England and SunOtter Martinico.
Jody was raised as Baptist, and then went on to become an atheist, a psycho-therapist, and an energy healer before turning her attention to facilitating plant medicine ceremonies. In the meantime, she worked in the corporate financial world, built a 6-figure online business, published a successful podcast, and launched a training dojo for leaders and citizens of the New Earth.
SunOtter Martinico was raised Catholic and, like Jody, became an atheist at one point in her life. She was born to a Pure’pecha/Apache mother and Sicilian father, and developed her soul-force in the fires of poverty, racism, and abuse – on the edge and outside the comforts of a sane and stable home life. After studying psychology and philosophy, SunOtter worked for 10 years supporting disadvantaged youth. She began her medicine journey with the Lakota and served in this tradition as a Water Pourer for Sweat Lodge, a Vision Quest Guide, and Pipe Carrier. She then apprenticed and trained for 16 years to become a Carrier of the Origin Teachings of the Delicate Lodge – a 35,000 year old lineage rooted in the ancient native cultures of the Americas.
In our conversation, both women share how they found their way back to God and made the journey to ceremonial leadership in various shamanic traditions. We explore how they were called to lead a program called Good Medicine, a training circle for plant medicine carriers to hone their craft in a potent and responsible way through learning, practice, community and accountability.
