Lake Charles, Louisiana, Artist Candice Alexander is pushing the envelope on creativity, with a novel art experience for viewers. People can walk up to her art, hold up their phone, and immediately hear the music she has composed for that specific piece. The art itself comes alive, with light and movement, for a fully immersive art experience.We talked about her history as an artist and her famous Fleur De Lis series. She moved into metal casting, tower glass jewelry, and painting bugs, pelicans, and the natural landscapes of Louisiana. Something shifted when she was sitting in a Basilica in Florida. She was called to create something different. This sparked a deep dive into painting religious figures, which profoundly impacted people coming into her studio. The commissions came in, and she kept following her inner guidance to create these pieces that spoke to the people. Her work has two components: her as the artist creating, and the viewer's experience of the art. As a prolific writer, she began creating song lyrics, and the LUX album was born, which is available on all streaming platforms. The music was unique in that each song was paired with an original painting. The use of music programmed air tags embedded in the art piece allows people to hold their phone and not only experience the music that goes with the piece, but also light and movement as the art itself comes alive!

Kahu James Kawainui is an Ancient Wisdom Keeper and Healer with deep Hawaiian roots. His story begins when he contracted Polio from the vaccine at 6 months old. His grandmother, who raised him, was living on Molokai, and the country doctor sent them directly to Honolulu, to the hospital. He remained there for over a year. He was completely frozen and locked in his body. Every night, his grandmother would Lomi Lomi (massage) him and rub homemade coconut oil, infused with her healing energy, into him. For months, after the doctors went home, she did body work on James. They told her he would die, but her love for him kept him alive. She breathed the HA, breath of life, into him, and he began to heal. Time passed, and he grew into a young man, joining the military to escape the trap of island life. A lucrative business career followed.During his professional career, he began intuitively helping and healing people who would come into his office. He had no idea how it worked, but the people who needed his help found him. He had it all, $4,000 dinners, flights on the corporate jet, but after another soul crushing day at the office, he felt a slap on the back of his head and heard, "It's time to go home." He quit the next day, answering the call back to the Islands. He and his wife lived in the family beach house. It had no windows, only screens, no electricity, and no running water. He fished and surfed every day, healing and literally being stripped of everything from his old life. His marriage ended, the money dried up, and a friend offered him a free ticket to New Zealand. James met a powerful Maori holy man, who said, "We've been waiting for you." This began his Spiritual journey. His connection with the ancestors amplified; his knowing and abilities sharpened. Author Kim Cook faced adversity from an early age. Physical and emotional abuse was the norm in her household, teaching her that adults who love you aren't safe, and pushing her into a high risk lifestyle; use of alcohol and drugs started at the age of 11. The powerful combination of Abuse and subsequent drug and alcohol addiction set her on a life path of self discovery and healing. Kim's passion is connecting people through community and culture through art, relationships, and supporting the healing from trauma. Her own personal healing ignited a passion to work with kids who experienced similar challenges and sparked a lifelong desire to be in service. Many who loved her stepped in to offer help and love through a debilitating time, and she let them. Lettering artist and Flight Attendant Dustin Hay joined me today on The Path of Me. We talked about the importance of believing in yourself, and how it leads to new beginnings, his daily gratitude practice, and learning to love yourself. It was a great conversation between old friends and a joy for me. He offered a great exercise that helped him truly love himself; take a dry-erase marker and write on the bathroom mirror, I love you because..... (fill in the blank). It was hard for him at first, but eventually he felt the love.

He was also vulnerable enough to share his sobriety journey and how memory was the biggest gift. He can now, through presence and memory, share and support others on their own path.
