As of now (November 12, 2022), many Republicans are frustrated because the anticipated “Red Tsunami” did not occur: Sure, the party of Lincoln did make some significant gains, but considering the state of the nation, any reasonable observer would have expected total landslide victories for the great majority of Republican candidates. Yet from a “30,000 feet” perspective, what is really happening? And would a red landslide really be what Trump wanted? This episode contains more food for thought than the mainstream media would give you in an entire year...

In the last couple of years, millions of people have been “banned” from Twitter, Facebook and Youtube; certain malicious Google algorithms see to it that certain “undesirable” information is suppressed. Many feel that we are on the threshold of – and have perhaps already entered into – a new age of totalitarianism. But is this really so? This episode sheds a closer light on the entirety of the present confusing situation...

Did you ever have the experience of thinking about someone you haven’t seen in a long time, only to have that person surprisingly give you a call soon thereafter? Or perhaps you have an inexplicable bout of depression, during which you for some reason think of a certain person you know who isn’t there, only to learn later that something very sad happened in the life of that person. Such are examples of what researchers call “simulpathity”. MichelAngelo and I discuss this curious phenomenon in this episode.

We’ve often heard that “God loves you”. That is – hopefully! - true. But from a philosophical perspective, even such a simple idea raises questions: What is God? What is love? And just as significant: who am I?

We’ve all heard the expression “the buck stops here”. We use it to criticize, for example, presidents who make bad decisions. But is it the president who is always to blame? Could it be that many times, the blame should be placed on other people, even more than on the president, despite the fact that he has the final word?

In this episode, I talk about one of the weaknesses of capitalism: insider trading. Yet though it is illegal, should we assume that laws against it can ever be effective?

The other day, Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez received a most assuredly unwelcome “birthday present” when two quite vocal leftist progressives interrupted her speech to bombard her with biting, and aggressive criticism of her pro-war voting. But was this really simply a spontaneous reaction by two democratic progressive voters? Listen to this episode, and ponder...

Having a clear mind is a goal we should all strive for, yet we should not fool ourselves into thinking that anyone could ever have a “totally clear mind”. In this episode, I discuss two types of people: those who reach their conclusions using sound reasoning and logic, and those do so by employing intuition, and even psychic ability.

Let’s play a little game – a “thought experiment”. Suppose we put 10,000 people, all at the same age of 25, on a big island, giving them a house, furniture, medical care, and $100,000 to buy the necessities of daily life. After one, five, or ten, years, would they all be financially equal, as they were when the experiment started? If not: why not? And if financial equality does indeed disappear, is it fair to simply force some of the people to subsidize those who squandered their money? This episode gives a criticism of one of the basic practices of socialism: forcing people to pay more taxes so that the money can be given to others, even when some of those others do virtually nothing to improve their financial condition.
