This story is found in all four gospels, and it shows us several very important aspects of being citizens of God's Kingdom. Jesus gives us the example of being compassionate people, and more importantly, he invites us to be a part of the work that he is doing.

In the process of addressing a specific sin committed by an individual in the church, Paul addresses the responsibility of the entire church body to strive for purity and truth together. The same is true for us today.

In this passage, Paul reminds the Corinthian believers, and us, that humility is the thing that draws people toward Christ rather than arrogance. It is so easy to become puffed up and arrogant in a society that is constantly telling us to make more of ourselves. However, humility is the thing that most closely identifies us with Christ.
