Roland Emmerich directs this war film that takes place during the Revolutionary War. The film stars Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger, Chris Cooper, Jason Isaacs & Tom Wilkinson. This film follows a war veteran and widowed father that is forced back in to action after his oldest son is captured and second oldest son is murdered by the British army. Although this film was well received and is not based on any actual events of the war, it was heavily criticized for its inaccuracy by the British media who found it dark & violent and disregarded the actual events from the British point of view. Emmerich teamed with long time producer, Dean Devlin, whom had work previously on 1995’s “Independence Day” and its later 2016 sequel as well as 1998’s “Godzilla”.
