The Pavement Conundrum episodes

  • S02 E14: Don't Get Bitter, Get Better
It's episode 14 of the only podcast in the entire world and it's an episode that cuts straight to the chase. 8 Pavement songs enter, only 4 can progress to the next round.

Elsewhere in this episode, Chris has declared independence for Scoddland, Paul wants you all to get well soon and Mark needs some new fancy friends.

  • S02 E13: Feed 'Em to the Lisbon Lions
The Pavement Conundrum is back and, boy, do we have a chunky episode for you today. Paul, Chris and Mark have a lot of actual opinions on certain songs today. Good news for people who like proper analysis on the music of prominent US indie rock band, Pavement.

If that's not your bag, there's plenty of stupid nonsense: sad cowboys, debate about what year the film Buddy's Song came out, Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers enter the conundrum, Mark's raft playlist and don't forget it's Call Paul night at the local mental institution. Is Chris the only person taking this podcast seriously?

  • S02 E12: Nothing Else Mattress
It's episode 12 and Paul, Mark and Chris are back, armed with 8 noteworthy Pavement songs to argue about! Oh, and they do argue!

This episode has everything: great tunes, secret recordings from the Terror Twilight sessions, news about Mark's troll farm, Chris' love of Scatman John and the potential for retribution for Paul due to a controversial opinion about a Pavement song. Is he wrong? You decide. Unless you disagree with him, in which case, don't.

  • S02 E11: Paul's Normal-Sized Wrists
The boys are back in podcast town with eight more fantastic Pavement tunes to pore over and for the first (and last) time in podcast history, Mark is the show's host! Will he be as successful as Chris or will Paul regret everything (again)?

Plenty to discuss in this episode including Paul vs Mark in the upcoming landmark Internet court case, what Chris got for Christmas in 1992, how dreadful Edinburgh really is and, of course, another secret recording from the Terror Twilight sessions.

  • S02 E10: The Wicket-Keeper is Down... Allegedly
It's Episode 10 and the atmosphere is electric. Mark is living his best self, Gall is on hosting duties and Paul? Well, Paul is zen. Paul is free.

Eight more Pavement songs enter The Conundrum with only four progressing so between discussing these matchups, the gang also discuss Indie Outcast Billy Corgan, Road Rash II, Paul not having 'the worms' and some dude called Graham Coscan?

Made with undying love for the rock band Pavement.

  • S02 E09: Paint Me Like One Of Your French Girls
It's episode nine and there's a grey cloud hanging over The Pavement Conundrum. Paul is convinced it's shenanigans but Mark and Chris are just living their authentic lives. What is next for these three Pavement fans? Will they make it to the end of The Conundrum? Will they make it to the end of the EPISODE?

Gall has an important announcement, Mark has a very Inception-style secret recording and Paul is just doing his best to manage after the whole Type Slowly thing.

Also: why shouldn't you call a harmonica a 'moothie'?

  • S02 E08: Type Faster
There's been a murder on The Pavement Conundrum and the blood is on Chris and Mark's hands. Don't blame Paul for this one, he is innocent.

Apart from those two idiots brutally massacring a Pavement song in cold blood, the trio cover other topics such as Sufjan Stevens' connection to Spiral Stairs, more songs about buildings and food, regional pride and Stephen Malkmus' potential reaction to Scottish Independence.

But overall, Chris and Mark murder a song. That's what you'll take from this episode.

    Sorry, Pavement.

  • S02 E07: Impossible Germany, Mysterious Greenland
It's episode 7 and someone's getting sacked... maybe.

This is rather antagonistic episode of The Pavement Conundrum and, as usual, Mark and Chris are bullying Paul. Despite that, the trio manage to cover important topics such as coffee preparation methods, fizzy pee, the click clack of the train track and Didier Deschamps in Pavement form.

All that plus 8 more Pavement classics and more secret recordings.

  • S02 E06: The Ol' Razzle Dazzle
It's episode 6 and Paul, Mark and Chris are now deep into the conundrum with another 8 Pavement songs to chew over.

Plenty of stuff to discuss including Chris' new outside tap (although the less said about his plans for it, the better), Mark being part of the Big Dinner Party Lobby and Paul getting attacked by a wasp.

The trio also discusses Pavement's announcement of a huge European tour and people are STILL harping on about Half a Canyon.

  • S02 E05: Two Thirds of a Canyon
You asked for it and the boys delivered: Half a Canyon gets the justice it deserves. Nobody can say this song hasn't been given its due. You can always trust Paul, Mark and Chris to get it right 100% of the time. Glad to be of service.

In other news, Mark is completely out of touch with the Pavement community, Chris confirms that he is, in fact, AGAINST murder and Paul's comedy career is in the toilet again.

All that plus Paul Weller's haircut, Cher's diss track, more love for Bob Nastanovich and, please, Mr Loaf is my FATHER.

We love to hear from you. Find us at @conundrumpod (but please start showing us some goddam respect, it's all about respect.)

Speaking of respect, all of this is produced in awe of our favourite band, Pavement.
