Katie is spending the day with Sam when she realizes she is about to play basketball against her nemesis from another school, Candace Franklin.  She almost runs into David Black who she has had a secret crush on.  She finds out her mother is going to Chicago for two weeks. She talks her mom into letting her stay home instead of staying at the blacks.
