As I pause outside the office door

Hand on the entrance

Frozen

So young

Unduly blinded

Excessively loyal

HE can do no wrong

There must be a rationale

As to why HE is reprimanding you

You form no response to HIS anger

HE doesn't stop HIS tirade

I back away from the door as I hear him roar one last time

HE grimaces at me as HE storms away

I hesitantly enter your office

You are straining to control your emotions

Strong and brave

HE is crushing your spirit

Stealing your fire

A little spark flys out the open door

Your calling is being extinguished

I sit down with you

'It was nothing’ you mumble

'Just a misunderstanding'

'HE was right to arc up'

I pivot to the door

And head over to HIS private office

A couple of timid knocks

HE bellows ‘Come in!’

No questions

HE knew I’d come as the peacemaker

I always did

Trying to understand the heart behind HIS anger

HE explains HIS reasoning for the outburst

I suggest a softer approach

HIS brow furrows

I shrink back in dread

Yes MASTER

I beg HIM to reconcile

HE says HE will

Empty promises

But I believe HIM

The sun sets

We find our way to the dimly lit carpark

Laughing together, as though the incident never happened

Looking forward to tomorrow

To God’s purpose and plan

We are meant to be part of HIS vision

Goodnight

Let’s do this again tomorrow…
