Hello and welcome back to the Penn HealthX Podcast!
My name is Ryan O’Keefe, and I’m now a 4th year MD/MBA student at The Perelman School of Medicine and the Wharton School. I, along with occasional co-host Logan Brock, am also currently the co-president of Penn HealthX. Movin’ up in the world. We are incredibly excited for a new semester with a fresh board of HealthX Vice Presidents. You’ll be meeting a few of them soon!
I’m currently in my year out studying business – but don’t let anyone fool you, it’s not all fun and games. It’s been incredibly busy - but am so happy to be back creating episodes with both students, and leaders working at the intersection of medicine, business, and innovation.
This has been an exciting year for HealthX , as we are now officially endowed and will be funded in perpetuity. Thank you so much from all of us at Penn HealthX to Roderick Wong who graduated from Penn Med in 2003 and is now managing partner at RTW Investments for his continued support of our program, and for seeing the value in helping medical students to learn about healthcare management, entrepreneurship and technology.
Since our founding in 2013, HealthX has hosted over 100 lectures, funded 23 non-traditional internships, provided non-dilutive funding for 13 student-founded startup companies, hosted 4 conferences with over 650 tickets sold, and last but not least, created 40 podcast episodes. And soon to be 41!
And thank you to Dr. Slevin, Dr. Anand, and Dr. Wills for joining Rod and supporting Penn HealthX. You are all giving us the opportunity to expand our programming for students. It’s with your gracious support that the spirit of HealthX continues to flourish.
Here’s to many more accomplishments – and podcasts - on the horizon.
For the next few episodes, we’re reaching back into the vault to upload some content we recorded a while back but never released. Though the guests are in slightly different places, the conversations are timeless, and as interesting as ever!
Thank you to all of the listeners for your support as we put out the last 40 episodes.
It’s good to be back.
