ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Bryan Gower was born in Berkley MI., a small city in Metro Detroit. Gowers eye grabbing canvases vividly display nostalgic images from his past as he remembers them now. Drawing inspiration from life experiences, Music, Films, Skateboarding & More. His subjects never shy from hardships and violence to celebrated events. Entangled amongst all these elements is a lyrical, yet warped vision. His works incorporate eerie landscapes w/ imaginary characters, road trips, current events and everyday life struggles in a contradictive manner. The conscious influence and in depth knowledge of one’s self is ever present. Bryan Gower has been painting from his home since 2020. Selected most recent exhibitions include: (2022) Artopia (Pontiac, MI.), (2023) The Art Experience (Pontiac, MI.) and Currently at The Irwin House Gallery (Detroit, MI.) Plus we have the Bio of Kyng spazz tappin in wit y’all from Pontiac Michigan here to show some love and give a trillion dollars worth of game strap in cause you are now live and in tune with the greatest thing you have ever seen on this side of the moon then we Clifton Jamaal Perry, a.k.a. Mr. Cliffnote is a multidisciplinary artist from the midwest who uses graphic illustration, hip-hop, and the fine arts to make sense of the world around him. Perry's mother and father kept him involved in extracurricular activities to keep his young mind occupied, often dividing his focus between arts and athletics as a way to protect him from the more tempting choices his peers were making at the time. However, growing up at the height of gang violence in the 1990s would still encourage Mr. Cliffnote to explore his curiosity around street-life, starting with a budding love for hip-hop.The 1990s are considered hip-hop's golden era for its dynamic musical offerings. Experiencing musical moments like the daisy movement and gangster rap were not lost on Mr. Cliffnote's young ears, but what he found most inspiring was the dominance of youth hip-hop act Kriss Kross. The young rap duo from Atlanta, with their brash expression and unique style, cemented Mr. Cliffnote's destiny to make his impact as an artist. Entering high school, Mr. Cliffnote realized his creative potential and his curiosity for life at once when he started a gang with his friends that would eventually morph into the rhyme collective Double-A. Mr. Cliffnote and Double-A spent their weekends performing at local venues of Detroit's underground scene like The Hip-Hop Shop and Lush Lounge. The group would earn their performance bonafides alongside artists who would go on to be legendary in their own rights like Royce 5'9, Elzhi, and Marshall "Eminem" Mathers who would go on to produce the film 8 Mile celebrating the creative era from which he emerged in the early 2000s. The film prominently featured local performers and legends alike, including Mr. Cliffnote, in extra and speaking roles. The moment would also coincide with Mr. Cliffnote's emergence as a highly sought muralist and fine artist. After years of making his living and fortifying his creative discipline as a commissioned artist often solicited by municipalities, political dignitaries, and private collectors, Mr. Cliffnote has maintained his connection to hip-hop as his preferred form of expression. In 2013, Mr. Cliffnotes released the immersive experience: Path to Notification. The experience included an album and comic book that detailed the political and social commentary that Mr. Cliffnote had been reflecting on at the moment. The follow-up to the project continues Path to Notification and features a special series of comic books paired with each single on the project both to be released as a full project and graphic novel at the end of the series. It will be released exclusively at www.mrcliffnote.com, Mr. Cliffnote's digital storefront for his art, music, comedy, and other creative wares.
