The giant Chinese social media app, WeChat, has come under fire for breaking Canada’s election campaign laws. It is required for digital agencies to join a registry when selling political ads in an effort to combat fake news and propaganda. WeChat bypassed this and displayed a conservative ad detailing how Trudeau would legalize hard drugs. We discuss the implications of this.

The Globe and Mail put out a piece outlining a key Supreme Court ruling. Randy Fleming was arrested for supposedly triggering an opposing group to the point where violence may occur. The police responded by arresting him. Despite a court victory for Randy, it was overturned by the Ontario Appeals Court. Finally, it was sent to the Supreme Court which found police action should never be made in the pursuit of a particular ends. We discuss the implications of this and how shutting down those who disagree with you is a terrible precedent.
