Host Marie Hulett talks with Mike Johnson about the great news about the California Dining with Dogs bill that we discussed a few months back.  If you’re the kind of person who enjoys taking your dogs where you go, you are going to be very pleased with the news. In today’s program, we’re going to speaking to Silvie Bordeaux, an angel who is helping blind dogs stay safe by providing halos to them!  Confused?  Don’t worry.  Silvie will explain more shortly. Then, after our halftime break, Shannon Keith, the president and founder of the Beagle Freedom Project will be stopping by to talk about her organization’s rescue missions to save dogs from a miserable life and early death in animal testing facilities.

You may remember that we've addressed the issue of military dogs in the past.  Now I had always thought that military dogs were considered personnel just like their human counterparts, afforded all the same honor and benefits after a lifetime of service and retirement; but I was really disappointed to find out a few years back that his wasn't the case at all.  Well, the American Humane Association has been working to change this for some time and they are making progress.  To update us on the status of our honored military canines, Robin Ganzert, the President of the American Humane Association will be checking in shortly to give us all an in-depth report.   And after our halftime break, Maria Dales from German  Shepherd Rescue of Orange County has a great story to tell about how competing in a beauty pageant has raised money for homeless pets.  And believe me, if anyone can win a beauty pageant, it’s Maria who is one of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out!  -Marie Hulett, Host of The Pet Place

She and her sister Suzanne spent years working on this project which has many humane goals associated with it.   And after our halftime break, Jenny Bonomini will be checking in between feeding a lot of hungry kittens at a very special nursery.  If you need a dose of cute and awwww, then you really need to listen to this episode.

Host Marie Hulett talks with special event organizers at Petopia Animal Rescue regarding a special Vegas Night fundraiser on August 9th, all the money raised goes to help homeless pets.  We’ll hear more about that from Yvette Berke, one of the cofounders of this fabulous organization. Then, after our halftime break, Robin Rhea, Senior Brand Manager for PetSafe will be discussing “drinking problems” in pets!  I’m pretty sure she’s not talking about alcoholic pets, but who knows?

This morning we’ve invited Stephanie Sands, aka, “The Pitbull Lady” to our program to help dispel the myth that these All American Dogs are dangerous.  Up until the 1950s, Pit Bulls were known as the average family pet.  It’s only been in recent years that their reputation has been trashed by the media when in fact the only real “bad dogs” that anyone should be talking about have just two legs!  Then, after our halftime break, Jason Rae from strutmymutt.com will be stopping by to talk about his special method of dog training and how he is partnering with shelters so that no pet will be returned.

Host Marie Hulett talks with Christy Thom, the Executive Director of Dogtopia about some amazing new things in the pet world and a special event coming up a little later today in Santa Ana. And after our halftime break, Jenelle Godges will share how she and her bridesmaids designed a bridal shower that literally went to the dogs!
