Episode 21 – Mad Ghoul Radio

The veil is thinning, fiends… Episode 21 eases us into the pre-Halloween season with a slow burn of atmosphere, heavy vibes, and plenty of haunted basement energy. Robb reflects on the weight of real-life horrors versus the ritual of horror films and soundtracks that let us reset, then dives headfirst into spooky season.

This episode features a deep spotlight on Night of the Demons (1988)—from its infamous animated intro and Dennis Michael Tenney’s synth-driven score to the sequels, the 2009 remake, and even a few personal connections with the cast and crew. From there, the journey moves through gothic grooves and doom-soaked anthems, with detours into cult favorites and modern darkness, carrying listeners deeper into September’s shadow.

Robb also shares thoughts on the brand-new TRON: Ares score by Nine Inch Nails, with an early review from a promo listen, before closing the night with a perfect track to seal the mood.

The season is here, the pumpkins are glowing, and the Mad Ghoul is fully awake.

Ever buy a toy that says “Ages 4+” and think, “Perfect, I’m 40+”? This week the Cracktastic Plastic crew is tackling those mysterious age classifications you see on toy packaging. Why does one action figure come with a choking hazard warning while another says “Collector Item, Not a Toy”? We’ll break down the USCPSC guidelines (that’s the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for all you acronym haters) and find out what makes a toy safe for kids—or just unsafe enough for us grown-ups to want it more. From sharp missiles to bite-sized accessories, we’ll cover the weird world of toy safety with plenty of collector laughs along the way. Then we'll talk about The Toy Addict to see if we should go there someday.
