Episode 1 – Into the Macabre

Hey there, friends and creatures of the night—welcome to the very first episode of Mad Ghoul Macabre. I’m your host, DJ Robb, stepping out of the shadows with a brand-new offshoot from the Mad Ghoul family.

After years of spinning eclectic vibes on Mad Ghoul Radio, I needed another outlet—one dedicated to all things scary. This show is laser-focused on horror scores and soundtracks, unsettling cult bands, eerie atmospheres, and anything that creeps under your skin. It won’t be for everyone, but that’s fine—it’s the kind of show I’d want to listen to myself. Pure nightmare fuel for late-night!

In our premiere, we dig into:

• Unsung horror composers whose scores deserve more recognition.
• Italian library music that plays like the soundtrack to a midnight giallo.
• Industrial pioneers who cracked sound open and made it dangerous.
• Electronic visionaries who turned atmosphere into horror without a screen.
• Modern disciples of horror soundtracks carrying the torch forward.

And as always, the ritual holds: every episode in the Mad Ghoul family closes with Trent Reznor / Nine Inch Nails. For this inaugural outing, I go straight to the heart of The Downward Spiral—a song and an album that remain some of the darkest, most uncompromising works in music history.

I also talk about seeing NIN live in Detroit this past Friday—my 39th show, and easily top five. Not because of deep cuts, but because of the sheer power of the performance: the sound, the staging, the energy, the Boys Noize remixes, the shadow-play visuals. It wasn’t nostalgia—it was proof that Nine Inch Nails still evolve, still devastate.

So buckle up. This is Episode 1 of Mad Ghoul Macabre—a journey into the heart of horror music.
