This week on The Phillip Jordan Podcast, Phillip Jordan is previewing the annual "Battle for the Belt" between the Troy Trojans and the South Alabama Jaguars. This will be the 11th meeting between the two schools on the gridiron with Troy winning the last four and holding an overall 7-3 edge. Thursday night's game is a huge Sun Belt match-up with Troy sitting at 5-2, 3-1 and South Alabama at 5-1, 2-0. To help preview the game, Phillip is joined by the voices of both schools in Barry McKnight and J.D. Byars.
The voice of the Trojans Barry McKnight joins the show first to talk about the impact first year head coach Jon Sumrall has had on the Trojans, the two quarterbacks in Gunnar Watson and Jarrett Doege, and how the defense has lived up to expectations due to being a veteran group. Then, South Alabama director of broadcasting J.D. Byars joins to discuss how Kane Wommack has been successful in less than two years, the development of quarterback Carter Bradley, and what makes this Jaguars defense good.
Both Barry and J.D. also discuss preparing for a Thursday game versus the traditional Saturday, and give their keys for a victory for their respective schools.
