  • Micromix 16: Let The Ghosts Fly Vol. 2 (By Brian Paulding)

This is the second in our series of "Let the Ghost Fly" guest mixes, contributed by our good friend and scholarly world traveler, Brian Paulding (You may also know him as Dorcas Morton, or that dude from the Cape who plays the trombone in all the Reggae bands). As one of the most laid-back individuals on the planet, he was able to put together a mix with a similar personality and charm - featuring some Icelandic reggae by Hjálmar, A Jack Kerouac outtake, Tiny Ruins, K'naan AND Phil Ochs all in one stunningly versatile 33 minute set. Take a break and listen.

  • Micromix 15: Stupid Songs For Stupid People

A short mix of tunes that have been collected over the past year - Bizarre finds from amateur record review blogs, faux queen singer/songwriters, dusty dollar bins, and the murkiest depths of the internet. They will make you feel dumb and, hopefully, make you laugh.

I've never been able to figure out based on descriptions alone whether or not i would like something before hearing or seeing it. so what I'm trying to figure out is what it is that ties together my favorite shit from all corners of the world. this volume comes closer to an answer using deductive reasoning, and concludes that it isn't cops.

  • Micromix 13: Rewind (because it's been a while)

So, you may have noticed that we've been on hiatus for a while. We haven't been completely unproductive though -- Our internet radio show on KSFS just finished it's second season and was nominated for best original program in the SF State Broadcasting Dept. If you dig minimal techno, electronica, and house music, give it a listen (http://www.thephysicsengine.blogspot.com/). We'll also be releasing some podcasts in the near future that are full of new electronica, so don't you worry. In the mean-time, here's a bit of an eclectic catch-up mix of tunes we like, just to let you know we aren't dead. It works good for late night/early morning type listening, but I'm not your dad. Do what you want.

Here's one for all you nerds who still play 8-bit Nintendo games. It was inspired by the new Megaman 10 game that just came out for xbox360. You can only listen to the original soundtrack so many times before you start to get sick of it, so i'd like to think of this as an alternative soundtrack to Megaman 10 experience.
You can also dance to it!
    Enjoy,

You've all been there, walking home alone from some bar, and you get caught up in some crazy thinking. You start wondering what you're doing here, wondering why you spent all that damn money on drinks that are making you spin now. You start looking around at the crazy city you live in, and note how strange it is that so many lights are still on at 4 a.m. This collection of songs is one that charts our experiences as citizens of San Francisco- specifically those moments, late at night, when there was nothing but us, the music, and the dimly lit road that lay ahead.
