After that, Southern Miss football is the topic. With a 2-3 record, we look at the remaining schedule and see what the path looks like for bowl eligibility. Also, USM’s rushing woes continue to hurt the offense.

First, the rosters for the Mississippi-Alabama and the North-South football all-star games were released Wednesday and the Pine Belt was well represented with local players. They discuss that then look ahead for what’s left for the three undefeated teams (Hattiesburg, Sumrall and Lumberton).

Andrew talks about what he saw from Southern Miss against Auburn and USA Today released coaching salaries for all Division I coaches. Where does Jay Hopson rank?

On this week’s episode of The PineBeltSPORTS Podcast, Nevil Barr joins the show as the Oak Grove-Petal game looms Friday. He coached on both sides of the rivalry and discusses what it was like, as well as his time at both schools.

Also, since he was the head coach at Sumrall in 1988, the last time the Bobcats were 6-0, he talks about his time there, too.

Before the interview, Camal and Andrew discuss Southern Miss’ win briefly, then return after the interview with what rivalries were like when they were in high school. They also get more in-depth with the Purvis-Sumrall and Oak Grove-Petal games.

On this week’s episode, Camal and Andrew touch on the high school teams that are starting region play and the numerous Southern Miss storylines surrounding the football program.
With region play starting, Andrew gives his predictions on who will make the playoffs from our area team’s regions. Camal adds his thoughts on Sumrall’s team after watching the Bobcats last week, and Andrew wants PCS and Sacred Heart to play on the first Thursday of the football season.

Before White’s interview is played, Camal and Andrew share that they witness from the incident of the Laurel-Hattiesburg game Friday, as well as give their opinions. After the interview, Southern Miss head coach Jay Hopson’s new contract is discussed.
