The first full week of no baseball, and we were hit with a very hard week. Of course, baseball at this time seems foolish to talk about, but it can also be a nice escape from the anxieties that we are surrounded by. Today we dove into our first team in the American League East: The Toronto Blue Jays. A young team with a lot of talent, Scotty and I dove into their starting 9, top 4 pitchers and then took a look into their farm system. They finally did it, after many close calls, the Dodgers have successfully won the Commissioners trophy! I mean, you can look back at nearly every episode we did this year, and you can hear us talk about how they were the best team in the league, and they proved it this year. While my prediction of Rays in 7 was nowhere near correct, we got some highly competitive games. Today we talked about Game 4, the controversial pull of Snell, and went through some of the hottest free agents and their likely landing spots this offseason. We've made it: the World Series is here. Of course, while we were all hoping for it to be the Yankees, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Los Angeles Dodgers have come to show us a solid series. Tied at 1 game each going into the weekend, Scotty and I are here to talk about our predictions of winners, game number, and postseason MVP. We touched on the Gold Glove finalist announcements and what we hope to come from those–obviously, a Gio and Clint win. No one wanted to see it go this way, but unfortunately, the Yankees could not pull out a win against the Tampa Bay Rays. This week we talked about what went wrong in the game that ultimately sent us home and the frustrations that we have felt from the communication coming from the front office. Scotty and I also have divided and conquered watching both the ALCS and NLCS respectively, so we give some of our own insight on those series. The Yankees have made it interesting at PETCO! Recorded on Thursday afternoon, little did Scotty and I know that we would be having a winner-takes-all Game 5 tonight! Because of this, we talked about the games in the first half of the week and what we need to do to be able to secure this series. We discussed Stanton's offensive explosion, Cole's great playoff starts, and the prospect of Higgy getting the starting job. There has been a lot of great baseball to watch this week, probably the best games all season all happened the same week, but tonight is all that matters. Oh BABY! What a great week to be a Yankee fan. A sweep in Cleveland showed us the Yankees are not here to screw around in the playoffs. With an electric showing from the offense and a great pitching performance, we were able to get past the Indians in two games. Now, we head to Petco to play the Rays. This week Scotty and I broke down what was so successful for the Yankees and talked about the status of the rest of the playoffs. We did it! After an up and down season, we clinched our spot into this year's weird playoffs. Hopefully, we are able to bring our best team into it, not the offensively flat and defensively concerning team that has popped up a few times this week. We talked about what the future holds for names like Kyle Higashioka and Tanaka and if the Yankees will keep them in pinstripes. Finally, Yankee baseball is a fun watch again. After a 2-week nightmare stretch where it was easy to find things to be upset about, the team really turned it around. Homeruns are coming from everywhere, with Higgy finding his stick and of course, LUKE VOIT is out here, already with more home runs than when we recorded this literally a day ago. The man is crazy. The team is crazy. What a great time for us to all come off of the IL because it's almost playoff time! This is our final push, and we have a whole lot of faith in them. Oh boy, we really thought it couldn't get worse from last week, huh? 5 straight losses and they were games that we SHOULD HAVE and NEEDED to win. The frustration is obvious here for Yankee fans, what's happening? Scotty and I talk through our frustrations and realize that maybe what we're missing is a clubhouse guy and one that can keep themself on the field. Hopefully, we can turn this around before it's too late, the extended playoffs might be a savior we didn't even know we needed this year. There's no way to sugar coat it, this week in Yankee baseball was atrocious. With the flat offense and our bullpen apparently needing to give up a game-tying or winning homerun every game, watching games have become difficult. This week we talked about the Mets mess and the Rays nightmare, and hope that we can figure out how to beat the O's this week.
