In this week’s episode, Amanda and Veronica talk everything periods, and contemplate the age-old question: if half the world bleeds, why do we think it’s gross? Amanda and Veronica catch up after Amanda’s trip to LA and she tells us all the deets on eating celiac in LA and on vacation - and eating on vacation in a different country in general. Then, the two talk everything periods: what having your period at work can be like; the golden rule of having tampons on your person for the girlies; period horror stories; and traveling while on your period. They share how they were taught about periods when they were young at home and at school, and share what their first periods were like. Then the two get into their issues with the myths and misogyny surrounding periods and why the world conditions us to think the most natural part of our reproductive systems is shameful and disgusting. They brainstorm how to feel empowered about their periods without feeling like they’re girl-bossing monthly bleeds, wondering if hippies - or history - had periods right. To end it off, they have a segment of What in the TikTok?! Deep diving into the awful TikToks minimizing and patronizing periods.

In this week's episode, Veronica and Amanda are joined by Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist Laura Holland. The three discuss everything pelvic floor, including painful sex, period pain, and even leaking, taking their stories back to high school years. Veronica and Amanda ask Laura all their burning questions about the pelvic floor, and what exactly pelvic floor therapy looks like. They deep dive into some physiology of endometriosis within the pelvic floor, what a tilted uterus is, and how the bladder plays a role is it all. They ask Laura to mythbust everything pee related, and may or may not get scolded on their bladder habits (hello just in case pees). To wrap it off, Veronica and Amanda ask Laura pelvic floor would you rather questions.

In today’s episode, Amanda and Veronica talk about everything food: their favourites, the foods they can do without, and the burning question on everyone’s mind - if food is fuel, why do so many people restrictively eat and diet? As two chronically ill besties, Veronica and Amanda know all too well how food can feel like it’s out to get you when so many food groups cause tummy issues and struggles, and they discuss how this has and continues to impact them today, years into their diagnoses. The two discuss the fine line between restrictive diets for chronic illness, and restrictive diets for body image. Can this line blur? And how do they hold themselves accountable when they cross too far one way? They even talk about how restrictive eating bleeds into the happiest time of your life: getting married. Putting their tummy troubles aside, the two play a game of “wellness trend would you rather”.

Anyone out there have an almond mom? Did you grow up with the 90s and early 2000s “heroin chic” supermodels on every TV channel and tabloid in the supermarkets? What about the insane diets that plagued tweens, teens, young adults and moms alike? On this week’s episode, Amanda and Veronica talk about their arch nemesis, diet culture. They share their own stories growing up in the 90s and 2000s “a second on the lips is a lifetime on the hips” eras, and how it informed their body image growing up, and how it still affects them now. They then discuss how today’s youth has diet culture and body image wrapped up in the form of “wellness”, and how technology has changed the diet culture game, whether for the worse or better, they aren’t sure. Regardless of the years you grew up in, body image and diet culture is still very much apparent in health care, chronic illness or not. Amanda and Veronica address BMI in the doctor’s office, the prescribing of baseless diets in order to receive health care, and how diet culture and wellness have fully infiltrated that chronic illness world. Then, the two talk about body positivity, intuitive eating, and how realistic loving yourself really is. 

Veronica and Amanda have been practicing yoga for several years and they feel the benefits of our practice. But, they want to hear from a professional if yoga can really help pain and inflammation. This week, Amanda and Veronica are joined by Amanda’s long time friend Jessica Ryan (and her dog), a registered massage therapist and 200 hour certified yoga instructor. They three talk everything yoga and massage for chronic illness and pain, digestion, and the age old question: heat or ice for pain? Jess explains the physiology behind deep diaphragmatic breathing for pain and stress, and how to find some pain relief at home with massage. The three also discuss when to know when a stretch is maybe too far, and how to know when this is happening to you, either at home, the gym, or in the hot yoga studio. Amanda and Veronica play Yoga Pose Would You Rather with Jess, and interrogate her about her feelings towards the pair’s most favourite yoga pose: pigeon.
