But besides being the voice of the show and another one of my favorite people and closest friends, Maya is a very talented rapper. She's released several projects and done collaborations with independent artists across the underground rap scene, with a message focused on positivity and self elevation.

Oh, and she's also a Morgan State graduate and another one of my dear friends that deserves their flowers. Which is exactly why she's the perfect guest for the latest episode of We See You.

Cayla Sweazie's athletic career started on the softball field at Morgan State University, and culminated with she and her teammates securing the university’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Softball Tournament in 2021. Just over a year since her graduation, Cayla’s now roaming the sidelines of HBCU football games and interviewing Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts as a reporter at ESPN. On this episode of "We See You," Cayla discusses her transition from playing to reporting, the role of NIL in HBCU spaces and the motivation that comes with being a black woman working her way up in the sports industry. India was one of the first friends I made during my freshman year at Morgan--one of the true Day 1 Homies! She arrived in Baltimore from Wisconsin, a black woman eager to be around black culture. The community she gained upon arriving here gave her that and so much more!

I enjoyed this episode because it wasn't as podcasty--it's much more open and free-flowing. But there are a lot of gems in here, and it's really special to me as I get a chance to give another one of my best friends her flowers after all these years.

Who is there for the artists that have been there for so many of us? Enter Vena J. A Licensed social worker and therapist, Vena started the Konfession Korner, a creative space for black artists, creatives and influencers to further explore conversations around their health and wellness. She spoke about how that mission came to be after her own experiences with her friends in the creative space and what she hopes to accomplish with this medium.
